Supergoop! Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint SPF 50 review

Sensitive skin girlies, will this be your go-to SPF?

#TBLBureau Campaigns Manager Lizanne tested two of the 14 shades (20C: light cool and 22W: light neutral warm) during her holiday in Bali to see if they would suit her dry and sensitive skin. Her main ask? A handy beauty product that will offer her the right amount of radiance and sun protection.

We first got a peek at the Supergoop! Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint SPF 50 when it debuted at New York Fashion Week. We couldn’t wait to try it out ourselves and review its benefits. Keep reading to find out if this became Lizanne’s new suncare essential.

It comes in a cute and convenient bottle.

The tinted sunscreen comes in easy-to-use packaging, where you can pop open its lid with one hand. This also keeps your other hand clean as you apply the product. Lizanne shared that it’s also “very compact and travel-friendly”.

First impressions, claims, and ingredients

Lizanne describes her current skin type as dry, sensitive, and acne-prone. When it comes to her criteria for her suncare products, she’s looking for something lightweight, non-greasy, and moisturising. These match the promising claims of the Supergoop! Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint SPF 50, which she hopes will also even out her skin tone without drawing too much attention to her dark spots.

@supergoop No, I don’t think you understand. We’re OBSESSED. 😍 Protec(tint) delivers the light, buildable coverage you want in a skin tint with the SPF 50 protection your skin needs — in a lightweight, comfortable formula that feels (almost) too good to be true! 💛 Get it now at @sephora ♬ A tu lado - Edgar 🇲🇽

It has a smooth and skin-loving formula.

The product is meant to give you powerful sun protection without any white cast as well as light, buildable coverage with a natural finish. It’s designed to be resistant to creasing and settling, making it the perfect quick fix to create the appearance of smoother-looking skin.

Since it claims to be a broad-spectrum tinted sunscreen with SPF 50, you can be assured that it can help block UVA and UVB rays, preventing sunburn and skin ageing. The brand recommends it for users with normal, combination, dry, oily or sensitive skin. Remember to reapply it throughout the day for optimal sun protection!

Which benefit of this tinted sunscreen do you like best?

The Supergoop! Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint SPF 50 is formulated with ingredients such as ectoin, which defends skin from oxidative stress caused by blue light, radiation and pollution and 83% skincare and skin-conditioning ingredients. What caught Lizanne’s eye is the hyaluronic acid-infused clay, which can help hydrate her dry skin and prevent her makeup from looking cakey at the end of the day.

How to apply the tinted sunscreen

Top - Swatch of the Supergoop! Protec(tint) in 20C (Light Cool). Bottom - Swatch of the Supergoop! Protec(tint) in 22W (Light Neutral Warm).

Lizanne tested the 20C: light cool and 22W: light neutral warm variants on her skin and observed that both were true to their shade names. However, as she has a neutral skin tone, her best skin match required her to mix both shades together. “The cooler shade is too pink on me while the warm shade is a little too yellow, so mixing them gave me the best tint shade,” she added. Since Supergoop! released 14 flexible shades, you can easily blend and customise to create your shade match.

The tinted sunscreen comes in a light, fragrance-free, and blendable formula. Lizanne shared, “It spreads easily upon first application and dries down after a few minutes.” She also barely noticed that it was on her skin afterwards.

When applying makeup on top of it, Lizanne saw that it worked well with her undereye concealer. “It lasted till the end of the day, which is rare as it usually melts away after a few hours whenever I applied it over my regular sunscreen.”

After using it for two weeks, Lizanne observed that the product truly feels weightless and gentle on her skin. She explains, “Sunscreens tend to break me out, but I didn’t notice any new blemishes with this product.”

That said, Lizanne wished that the product’s packaging could be improved in order to prevent potential spills. This is especially important for users who are looking to apply this product on the go.

Price-wise, Lizanne found the price tag of SGD67 per 35ML to be relatively steep. However, she would still consider recommending this to those with dry skin since it didn’t feel heavy on her face. She also thought it was a great time-saver since it covered her base and sunscreen prep in one step.
