Not all moisturisers are made the same and you would know this struggle if you have dry skin. Sometimes, a product can feel too lightweight and insufficient when it comes to rehabilitating your thirsty skin. On the other hand, a moisturiser for dry skin can feel too heavy for a humid climate like Singapore’s. But the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Rich Barrier Moisturizer promises to be the best of both worlds with its richly hydrating and barrier-firming but light-as-a-cloud formula.
Our #TBLBureau Campaigns Executive Lizanne tested it on her dry and very sensitive skin to see if this barrier-reinforcing moisturiser can help address her skin concerns. Read on to find out if it did.
First impressions, claims, and ingredients
“As someone with very dry and sensitive skin, I get random flare-ups and rashes and my skin usually reacts to products with fragrances,” Lizanne shared. “And since I live in Singapore, I tend to look for something that’s not greasy and doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. I’m okay with thick moisturisers and regularly use balms because of how dry my skin is but I can’t stand it if the moisturiser leaves an oily feeling. Plus points if it doesn’t clog my pores and it’s affordable!”
So how does the Peter Thomas Roth moisturiser fit into her skincare situation? When it comes to dry skin, hyaluronic acid is your best friend and this moisturiser is packed with it. It’s formulated with a 30% Hyaluronic Acid Complex that helps with replenishing moisture. The high hyaluronic acid content is supported by 3% HydraFence which helps in maintaining that moisture for up to 120 hours.
“I use a lot of hyaluronic acid products — including toner, serum, moisturiser — but none of them has HydraFence which I feel is what makes the difference and keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day,” Lizanne shared.
Aside from keeping your skin hydrated and protected from dehydration, this moisturiser for normal-to-dry skin also promises to increase the look of your skin’s thickness, firmness, and elasticity with its Moisture Barrier Boosting Complex. It also offers anti-ageing and -redness properties.
Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Rich Barrier Moisturizer packaging
“It’s a simple standard jar packaging that everyone is familiar with,” Lizanne observed. “It has a hygiene cap inside as well which I usually keep just to prevent any bacteria from getting inside the product. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with a spatula, so I had to use my own from other products.”
Applying the moisturiser
So how does it feel when applied to the skin? “The texture is super interesting and I’ve never tried another product with this texture before,” Lizanne mused. “It’s a very viscous gel texture but it turns into a creamy texture as you rub it in. A little goes a very long way, which is great since it’s on the pricier side.”
“This particular variant is marketed for normal to dry skin types but I feel like it’s more suitable for dry to very dry skin because of how hydrating it is,” Lizanne added. “It makes my skin feel very soft and moisturised after application, and not sticky or greasy. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin at all but my friends with normal skin types have tried it and have mentioned it feels a bit too heavy for them. So I would only recommend this for people with super dry skin.”
The hydration also lasts quite a while, especially if you follow the recommended twice-a-day application. “My dry skin tends to feel very tight and uncomfortable towards the middle of the day, but after using this product, I noticed I don’t feel that way as often because it manages to keep my skin hydrated for a longer period.”
She also shared that the moisturiser was her skin’s saviour while she was travelling abroad. So if you’re planning on travelling to colder or drier countries, this may be a worthy addition to your travel skincare routine.

Final verdict on the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Rich Barrier Moisturizer
So is this moisturiser worth trying if you have dry skin? Lizanne thinks so, to a point. “This product honestly exceeded my expectations. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about the products from this brand but I’ve never looked into it because of their price point,” she explained. “But after trying this moisturiser for the first time, I think it deserves the praise it gets, in terms of the product texture, because of the hydration it gives my skin and how it makes my skin feel amazing.”
If you have the means to splurge or are willing to invest in a good moisturiser, then you should consider purchasing this.
