After Lollapalooza announced its lineup, K-fans were quick to spot two K-pop groups (both hailing from the HYBE agency) behind Gen Z’s favourite anthems. TXT and NewJeans will take the stage in front of around 400,000 attendees.

TXT (short for TOMORROW X TOGETHER) is making history as the first K-pop group to headline Lollapalooza. Their top songs include ‘0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)' feat. Seori (2021), ‘LO$ER=LO♡ER’ (2021), and ‘Blue Hour’ (2020). Their latest addictive hit is ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ which was accompanied by a fun TikTok dance challenge.

The group doesn’t have your usual K-pop positions (such as the main vocalist, centre, etc.), except for the leader, Soobin, and the maknae (or the youngest), Hueningkai. The other members are Yeonjun, Beomgyu, and Taehyun.

They’re also coming to Singapore on 1 April, but tickets are currently sold out.

Meanwhile, NewJeans continues to prove its power as the top among the girl groups that debuted just last year. The quintet — comprising Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein — takes the title of becoming the first female K-pop group to perform at Lollapalooza.

NewJeans’ catchy songs include ‘OMG’, ‘Ditto’, ‘Hype Boy’, and more. Aside from being a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, they’ve also made waves as brand ambassadors in the fashion and beauty world.

The music festival will also include a variety of talented artists such as Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, The 1975, Lana Del Rey, Carly Rae Jepsen, Indonesian singer-songwriter NIKI, DPR Ian and DPR Live (rappers based in South Korea), and a whole lot more.

Lollapalooza 2023 is happening from 3 to 6 August at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. Ticket prices start at USD365 (or around SGD484.02).
