Who is EXO’s Chen?

Whether or not you’re into K-pop, you might recognise Chen’s sweet and sometimes melancholic voice in many K-drama soundtracks. Some of his most beloved songs include Everytime from Descendants of the Sun, Your Moonlight from Do You Like Brahms?, and Cherry Blossom Love Song from 100 Days My Prince.

As a solo artist, he has released three mini-albums filled with moving and comforting K-ballads. On the surface, his music career (which began when EXO debuted in 2012) is outstanding. But sadly, many fans were dismayed when they found out that he had a pregnant fiancée in 2020 to the point of demanding his agency remove him from his group.

But controversies aside, Chen is celebrating various milestones in his personal life and career, so let’s dive into them.

EXO’s Chen’s wedding

Back in 2020, Chen registered his marriage with his girlfriend. But we guess that they haven’t been able to hold a wedding ceremony due to his military enlistment and the pandemic. The couple now has two daughters (one born in 2020 and the other in 2022).

In 2023, he will be finally having a wedding with his wife. SM Entertainment confirmed the rumours and shared, “Chen is going to hold a wedding ceremony, which has been delayed due to circumstances, in October.”

EXO’s Chen’s first Japanese album Polaris

Beyond his personal affairs, Chen has released his first Japanese album Polaris. It includes six tracks which give hopeful and inspiring vibes. We’ll also get to see a fresh side of the artist as he takes on the rock genre with songs such as Break Out and Free World. The music video for his title track, Light of My Life, will be released later today on SM Entertainment’s official YouTube channel.

He’s also gearing up for his first solo tour in Japan which will kick off on 19 August.
