It’s Official: BTS, Starting With Jin, Will Serve In The Military

If only time could go faster

Members of the ARMY fandom were heartbroken when entertainment agency Big Hit (rebranded as Hybe Corporation) announced that global superstars BTS will fulfil their mandatory military service.

The news came after the group ended their spectacular free concert in Busan to support South Korea's bid for the World Expo 2030.

As the oldest member, Jin will be the first one to enlist after he concludes his solo project. He was previously permitted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to postpone his enlistment, but he plans to withdraw his postponement request by the end of October.

In response to the announcement, a representative of South Korea's Ministry of Defense said that BTS will be given the opportunity to participate in national events or performances that will benefit their nation.

There’s always an empty feeling for fans whenever actors or K-pop boy group members have to break away from the entertainment scene and undergo mandatory military service. However, we can all look forward to their comeback once they reconvene as a group around 2025.

Before heading off to the military, Jin will reportedly release a song that was gifted by the British rock band Coldplay. Back in 2021, they collaborated with BTS back for the single, ‘My Universe’. More information about Jin’s solo single will come out soon this month, so stay tuned.
