Review: Will This Brightening Skincare Range Give You *That* Glow?

Bye dullness, hello vibrant skin?

Like many of you, I want my skin to look radiant too. So when I learned about the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Collection, I was instantly piqued. It’s a new skincare range from the derm-approved, suitable-for-sensitive-skin brand that seeks to reduce dark spots, boost brightness, and even out skin tone all without irritating your skin. The last claim got me intrigued, so I just had to give the collection a whirl. Will it live up to its promises? Let’s find out in this review.

First impressions and packaging

Cetaphil’s Bright Healthy Radiance skincare and bodycare products

Cetaphil adds a splash of pink in their newest skin and body care line.

At first glance, Cetaphil’s Bright Healthy Radiance line looks just like any other drugstore skincare brand. Most of the products come encased in sturdy plastic components, with the exception of the beauty bar. The collection deviates from Cetaphil’s usual blue, green, and white packaging as it features metallic pink caps and pumps.

But what’s encased in these sleek-looking bottles? The collection boasts of Cetaphil’s GentleBright Technology, which is derived from white sea daffodil extract and niacinamide (Vitamin B3). Sea daffodil boosts cell renewal and has anti-inflammatory benefits, as well as antioxidant and melanogenesis-inhibiting (reducing dark spots caused by the production of melanin) powers. Meanwhile, niacinamide is known for its ability to trap moisture, reduce redness, and protect against pollution. So how does this GentleBright Technology fare on oily-combination skin IRL?

Usage and application

Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance skincare products

The Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance collection offers a gentle, minimalist, three-step skincare regimen.

To start things off, let’s talk about the facial skincare products (available in both the Philippines and Singapore) beginning with the Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser (PHP460/~USD11.96). The cleanser comes out as a thick, almost solid consistency that softens to a gentle lather once mixed with water. It left my skin feeling hydrated and soft.

Next, I soak a cotton pad with the Brightness Refresh Toner (PHP693/~USD14.97). It falls on the more liquid type of toners and has a clear, watery appearance in the bottle. When applied, it immediately gets absorbed by the skin. It always picks up any leftover residue and impurities that managed to survive the cleansing process. The toner doesn’t cause any stinging or otherwise adverse sensation. Another win!

Lastly, I apply the Brightening Day Protection Cream SPF 15 (PHP990/~USD30.02) in the morning. It has a thick, mousse-like texture that’s quite light and easily absorbed once massaged onto the skin. You only need a little bit of the moisturiser, just a tiny dip with the pad of your finger, to cover the whole face.

At night, I use both the cleanser and toner before finishing off with the Brightening Night Comfort Cream (PHP990/~USD30.02). It has a more gel-like texture compared to the Day Cream, but it feels thicker and weightier once applied.

All of the skincare products didn’t have a scent, which is great if your skin tends to react negatively to fragrances.

Cetaphil’s Bright Healthy Radiance bodycare products

The body wash and lotion are available in the Philippines.

In the Philippines, Cetaphil’s Bright Healthy Radiance collection also includes body care items. The Brightness Reveal Body Wash (PHP649/~USD13.51) and Brightening Lotion (PHP990/~USD20.60) were my favourites out of the entire collection. Both have a mild, appealing floral fragrance that makes the skin feel soft and smell good all throughout the day. If liquid body wash isn’t your thing, there’s also the Brightness Reveal Bar (PHP346/~USD7.20) that delivers the same results.

Final thoughts

After using these products for around three weeks, I can attest to seeing some results. The most noticeable was a gradual difference in the brown spots from previous acne breakouts. The ones I had prior to using the products are a bit lighter. However, red spots and minor redness around the nose area are still visible.

With regards to brightening, I haven’t reaped the promised benefits yet, but the brand does claim that results will be more visible after four weeks of continued use. On the plus side, my face is noticeably less oily come mid-day. It’s a little less dull, but not as “bright” as I expected it to be though I’ve been receiving some kind compliments from friends on how my skin has been glowing lately. I’ll keep using the whole collection for a few more weeks to see if there’s a bigger marked improvement, but so far, I’m quite pleased with the results.

If you’re looking for a new minimal skincare regimen without having to fear triggering irritation, this range deserves consideration. There are more affordable drugstore options available, but since this falls under mid-range price points, you can still get your money’s worth even if you buy the individual products separately.

The Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance skin and body care range is available at Cetaphil Philippines’ official stores on Lazada and Shopee. In Singapore, you can get your hands on the skincare line in Watsons and Guardian stores and websites.
