Dior continues to harness the power of Gen Z as it has just selected 21-year-old Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin as its new ambassador.
The actor has a fully booked schedule as he will also be starring in the upcoming Shooting Stars, a movie about NBA star Lebron James’ high school basketball career.
Dior and Gen Z ambassadors
French luxury brand Dior has taken another step towards reaching younger consumers by adding another young celebrity to its arsenal of ambassadors. Recently, it has partnered with 20-year-old Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega and 24-year-old Stranger Things actress Maya Hawke for its new Gris Dior perfume campaign.
And last week, Dior named K-pop star Haerin from NewJeans as its global ambassador for jewellery, fashion, and beauty.
Caleb McLaughlin for Dior Beauty
So what exactly will Caleb McLaughlin be promoting? He will be fronting the brand’s La Collection Privée fragrance range in the US. Dior said that he will also be on board to celebrate and support the heritage of Dior’s fragrance category, so let’s keep an eye out for their future projects.
His work as a rising actor and musician certainly caught Dior’s attention, but the brand also cited his philanthropic endeavours as a big part of its decision to seal the deal. Dior said in a statement that he developed his own nonprofit foundation, Toa Foundation Inc. (meaning ‘evolve’ in Swahili) which supports personal and mental development globally via performing arts and financial literacy.
He is also an active member of the Jr. NBA Leadership Council which works to support and improve the youth basketball experience for young players across the US.
