Can Men Indulge In Skincare And Makeup Too? Let's Discuss

Plus some must-have beauty products

Can men use skincare and makeup without keeping it a secret? Yes, definitely. Beauty should be inclusive and not see gender, race, or age.

In this episode of Beautea Talk, host Roanna and content creator Myke Motus have a chat about inclusive beauty and male beauty standards as well as share makeup and skincare products and tips they swear by.

Curious to know which inclusive beauty products can be used by you and your boo? Read on for a quick rundown of Myke's go-to skincare and makeup products you can find in Singapore.

1. Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum

Myke swears by this celeb-approved hyaluronic serum from Dr. Barbara Sturm. It's powered by hyaluronic acid which keeps his skin hydrated and plump. Since it provides a constant source of moisture to the skin, it effectively prevents the premature development of wrinkles caused by dehydration. You can learn more about hyaluronic acid’s benefits and how to incorporate a hyaluronic acid serum into your skincare routine here.

Why it's great: It also contains an ingredient called purslane, a potent anti-ager that helps calm and soothe irritation.

It's available on the brand's Singapore website for SGD445 per 30ML and SGD1140 per 100ML.

2. Chanel CC Cream Super Active Complete Correction SPF50

A lightweight base product is a good way to introduce men to makeup. Myke prefers this Chanel CC Cream for its skin-like natural finish. His tip is to find the perfect shade match or go a little darker than your complexion, so it doesn't look white in photos.

Why it's great: It combines skincare and makeup into one product. It's infused with murunga plum extract that acts as a colour corrector while boosting your skin's glow.

It's available at TANGS for SGD90 per 30ML.

3. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer

If you want a more minimal makeup product just to even out some minor discolouration and hide dark circles, Myke recommends this full-coverage concealer. He goes for a lighter shade when his skin needs a little pick-me-up and spot conceal accordingly.

Why it's great: Aside from its very high coverage, this concealer also provides a non-creasing hold thanks to its Expression Proof™ formula. It also has a blend of anti-ageing ingredients to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

It's available at Sephora for SGD42 per 12ML.

4. NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

Singapore's hot and humid weather can make your skin oil up super fast, so Myke keeps this setting powder in his bag at all times. He loves its super mattifying formula that still feels weightless on the skin.

Why it's great: It's formulated with Photochromic Technology that diffuses light and bounces it away from fine lines, wrinkles, and pores — effectively creating a skin-blurring effect.

It's available at Sephora for SGD64.

5. Glossier Boy Brow

Myke keeps his brows tamed and well-groomed with a handy brow gel. The pomade-tint hybrid fills in any sparse areas in your brows, thickens them up, and gives them a more polished shape while maintaining its "natural" look.

Why it's great: It contains moisturising and thickening ingredients — oleic acid, lecithin, and soluble collagen — to condition your brow hairs.

It's available on the brand's website for ~SGD23.
