Love Next Door: cast, plot, trailer, and more
If Snowdrop starring Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo as well as Jung So Min’s character in Alchemy of Souls gave you pain, you can bet this drama will patch up your broken heart.
The story revolves around Bae Seok Ryu (Jung So Min) and Choi Seung Hyo (Jung Hae In) who spent their childhood days together since their mums were friends. After they grew older, they went their separate ways and found success in their respective careers. However, Seok Ryu moves back to her mum’s neighbourhood, her life gets entangled with Seung Hyo once again.
In the teaser, we see them bickering whether in the past or the present. How will their relationship develop and move past the friend zone?
While many K-dramas today are getting inspiration from webtoons, Love Next Door is an original story made for the small screen. It has a buzzworthy production team with director Yoo Je Won at the helm along with screenwriter Shin Ha Eun. Both previously worked together for the hit healing drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.
If you’ve been following K-dramas for a while now, you’ll find familiar actors in the cast such as Jang Young Nam (the assistant coach in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) and Lee Seung Joon (the psychiatrist in Doctor Slump) as Seung Hyo’s parents. On the other hand, Park Ji Young (the mother in Revenant) and Jo Han Chul (the father in Gyeongseong Creature) take on the roles of Seok Ryu’s mum and dad, respectively. Lee Seung Hyub — who portrayed the role of the band leader in Lovely Runner — is cast as Seok Ryu’s brother.
What’s all the hype around Love Next Door about?
Love Next Door is Jung Hae In’s first lead role in a rom-com series. You might have seen him in Something in the Rain alongside Son Ye Jin, but this and his other works lean more towards melodrama. Meanwhile, Jung So Min’s last project in the rom-com genre was her movie Love Reset with her co-star Kang Ha Neul.
From the teasers and first-look photos, fans could sense the heart-fluttering chemistry between the two. We can’t wait to see their story unfold soon!
