9 Celebs Who Served (Or Swerved) Fine Fashion Tailoring To The Met Gala 2025

Many have served and delivered, others…tried.

The Met Gala 2025 is here, and the stars served. This year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, paired with the dress code “Tailored For You,” set the stage for precision cuts, bold statements, and boundary-pushing elegance. And let’s just say, some celebs clearly understood the assignment.

What is the theme of the Met Gala 2025?

The Met Gala 2025 theme focuses on Black style and the history of Black dandyism. Dandyism is believed to have its roots in 18th-century Britain when people preferred tailoring over aristocratic dressing. Black Dandyism is an artistic and cultural movement characterised by smart suits, polished dress shoes, and personalised tailoring.

While it’s not required for celebrities to follow the theme, they’re still expected to wear ensembles that fit the dress code. Every year, there were a few who served the best looks and tailored their ensembles to the theme, then there were others who skipped their homework. Here are the best-dressed, most on-theme looks from the Met Gala 2025 blue carpet and a few who missed the mark.

Best Dressed

1. Sophisticated & dapper: Lewis Hamilton in Wales Bonner

F1 driver and seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is recognised for his striking appearances both on and off the track. This year, as one of the Co-chairs of the Met Gala, he embraced the theme and arrived looking dapper as always. He wore a custom ivory long-tail suit adorned with ancestral beaded pearls along the side of his pant leg.

2. Stunning & showstopping: Rihanna in Marc Jacobs

Rihanna made the Met Gala the best place for a pregnancy announcement, and she looks great doing it! The singer always had one of the best Met Gala looks in the past years, and this year was no exception. Rihanna looked superfine in a perfectly tailored Marc Jacobs suit. The polka dot necktie, pocket square, diamond brooches and two-tone heels added to the dandyism of the whole look.

3. Finely tailored & elegant: Zendaya in Louis Vuitton

Zendaya reigns supreme as the Met Gala’s undisputed diva, and this year, she delivered once again. Dressed in a razor-sharp cream three-piece suit topped with a matching hat, she oozed mystery and power. The billowy headpiece was styled just right, offering a teasing glimpse of her signature smoulder and serving major dapper drama. She is currently working on the upcoming movie Odyssey with her boyfriend, Tom Holland.

4. Dandy & Chanel Girl: Blackpink’s Jennie in Chanel

After making her Coachella debut and releasing her debut solo album, Ruby early March 2025, Jennie has been booked and busy. The longtime Chanel muse embraced the theme of the night and strutted on the blue carpet wearing a Chanel tuxedo-inspired suit with pearls at the bodice and necklace. The two-tone boater hat was an excellent touch to complete the whole ensemble. This is one of Jennie’s best Met Gala looks yet.

5. Grey & gorgeous: SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups in Boss

SEVENTEEN’s S. Coups has made his debut at the Met Gala. He was recently named the brand ambassador for the German luxury label Boss, and he fulfilled that role by showcasing one of the best on-theme looks of the night. He donned a grey asymmetrical blazer paired with matching pleated trousers, complemented by a black duster.

Over the past year, S. Coups has been expanding his fashion portfolio by attending Paris Fashion Week and the Casa Loewe opening in Seoul. S. Coups is also doing promotions for SEVENTEEN’s fifth full-length album, "Happy Burstday," which will be released on 26 May, marking their 10th debut anniversary.

6. Preppy & Smart: Doechii in Louis Vuitton

Grammy-winning rapper, Doechii, came in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, and even had the logo stamped on her face! She wore an LV monogrammed-printed blazer and vest that matched her tailored shorts with the brand's checkerboard Damier print.

7. Weird & wonderful: Teyana Taylor in Marc Jacobs

Singer-songwriter and actress, Teyana Taylor, was one of the first to arrive and served one of the most interesting looks of the night. The Marc Jacobs tailor-made red three-piece pinstripe suit was a gorgeous look that showcased dandyism at its finest. The whole ensemble showcased everything about the history of Black style.

These missed the mark

8. Lacklustre: LISA in Louis Vuitton

LISA has been crushing it with her new album, Coachella weekend, and appearing on HBO’s White Lotus, but her glittering all-black pantsless ensemble didn’t meet the fashion expectations of the Met Gala. It missed out on a lot of things when it comes to this year’s dress code. However, the glittery and sexy look is the perfect outfit for other events or even on stage for the Blackpink World Tour.

9. Points for effort: Kendall Jenner in Torisheju

Kendall Jenner did try to follow the dress code with the unique silhouette and tailored pant-suit dress, but it was too simple for the Met Gala. The whole look was better suited for a high-class business meeting than superfine tailoring or dandyism.
