Miss ‘The World Of Married’ Stars? Here Are Other Dramas & Films Starring The Cast

Going beyond Gosan

It’s been more than a year since The World Of The Married (TWOTM) aired. Even so, the feisty back-and-forth between Ji Sun-Woo (Kim Hee-Ae) and Yeo Da-Kyung (Han So-Hee) that stirred the small town of Gosan is still vivid to fans of this K-drama. There’s also the effective performances of Park Hae-Joon and Kim Young-Min as adulterous husbands that left quite the impression on viewers. Curious where else to catch this talented cast? Add these dramas and films to your watchlist next.

Kim Hee-Ae in My Husband’s Lover (2007)

Before she played the scorned wife in The World Of The Married, Kim Hee-Ae had a hand at playing ‘the other woman’ in the 2007 K-drama My Husband’s Lover. Her character Hwa-young is a widow trying to restart her life as she moves back to Korea from the U.S. She reunites with her best friend Ji-soo (Bae Chong-Ok) and Ji-soo’s husband, Joon-pyo (Kim Sang-Joon). As she grows closer to the couple, Hwa-young and Joon-pyo’s friendly relationship turns into an affair.

Why you should watch it: If you loved TWOTM, then you’ll surely love this, too. It delivers the same thrilling tone when it comes to revenge and illicit affairs without losing what makes the narrative human. All leads also give stellar performances in this drama, making you love, hate, and feel for them almost simultaneously at every turn of a scene.

Park Hae-Joon in The 8th Night (2021)

Looking for a new thriller to watch on Netflix? Hit play on The 8th Night. After a supernatural phenomenon starts causing unexplainable murders in the city, several people from different backgrounds try to stop it before it gets too late. Park Hae-Joon takes on the role of Detective Ho-Tae in this film which also stars Lee Sung-Min, Kim Yoo-Jung, Nam Da-Reum, and Kim Dong-Young.

Why you should watch it: Who doesn’t love a good supernatural thriller? The 8th Night complements its mind-boggling story with great special effects that would leave an impression even after the end credits start rolling. It also effectively weaves together the multiple perspectives of each character, making it satisfying once their paths finally cross at the height of the story.

Han So-Hee in Nevertheless, (2021)

Nevertheless, starring Han So-Hee and Song Kang, has just aired four episodes as of writing and yet it’s steadily trending worldwide on Netflix each week. The ‘Will they, won’t they?’ approach to the story pins the formula of an intriguing romance story down to a T, making the good reception of the drama quite expected.

Why you should watch it: One way or another, you’ll find something to love about this drama. There’s the flirtatious romance of the main leads, the charming side characters, the self-awareness of the plot when it comes to the red flags in relationships, and more. Did we mention Han So-Hee and Song Kang’s incredible chemistry?

Jeon Jin-Seo in The Tale Of Nokdu (2019)

Jeon Jin-Seo’s first major role in a drama is The World Of The Married’s kind-turned-rebellious son Lee Jun-Yeong. But K-drama fans might find him familiar since he’s played younger versions of many lead characters in other popular shows before. One of which is the young Cha Yul-Mo (older version played by Kang Tae-Oh) in The Tale Of Nokdu starring Jang Dong-Yoon and Kim So-Hyun. This drama is about a man who disguises himself as a woman in order to live in a widow’s village which holds the secret to his true identity.

Why you should watch it: The Tale Of Nokdu is a great reversed approach to your typical genderbend story. It delivers on comedy and thrill. It also changes the way we see what’s ‘feminine’ versus ‘masculine’ within the Asian culture.

Kim Young-Min in Crash Landing On You (2019)

Kim Young-Min’s character Son Je-Hyuk in The World Of The Married is insufferable, to say the least. He’s a chronic cheater who takes pride in being one. He also constantly makes his wife feel inadequate in their relationship. It’s a complete shift from his character in Crash Landing On You, where he played the broken-spirited Jung Man-Bok who sacrificed his pride and identity in the name of his family.

Why you should watch it:
Sure, there’s Yoon Se-Ri (Son Ye-Jin) and Ri Jung-Hyeok’s (Hyun Bin) love story. But the story of the North Korean crew, including Jung Man-Bok, gives the series another layer of emotional tug and entertainment. The scene where Man-Bok finally confesses to what he did in the past is also one of the most beautiful moments that unfolded in the entire drama.
