This Is Why Taylor Swift Is The Queen Of 2023

Taylor Swift’s world domination era

Taylor Swift is simply unstoppable. We all know what she can do, what she has achieved, and how successful she is as a singer and songwriter. And 2023 has definitely been her year and being named TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’ just solidified her status as a queen.

TIME Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’

Every year, the American publication TIME Magazine names a person or group as its ‘Person of the Year’. The title is given to those who have influenced the events of the year most, whether for good or for bad.

Since its inception 96 years ago, the title has already been given to heads of state such as former President Corazon Aquino of the Philippines (1986) and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine (2022), groups such as the U.S. Scientists (1960), and even inanimate objects such as the Computer (‘Machine of the Year’ in 1982).

And this year, the title has been awarded to none other than the kween herself, Taylor Swift.

Taylor appears on the cover with her cat, Benjamin Button, and shares her success story in an in-depth interview — her first one in nearly four years. The singer-songwriter shares her humble beginnings from scoring opening act gigs for country artists to touring around the world as the main act. So what has she accomplished in 2023 to become the most influential person this year?

Taylor’s world domination era

Taylor has had many successes in over a decade of her career in the industry. But here are some things she did and succeeded at this year alone that probably made her the frontrunner for ‘Person of the Year’.

1. Released two Taylor’s Version albums

In her bid to regain ownership of all her past works, Taylor has been re-recording her old albums and releasing each one as Taylor’s Version. She began her album redemption tour with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in 2021 and just in 2023, Taylor released not one, but two Taylor’s Version albums for Speak Now and 1989.

2. Embarked on her sixth world tour

When we say Taylor world domination, we mean it. Back in March, Taylor kicked off her The Eras Tour in Glendale, California. The show lasted for at least three and a half hours, with her performing 44 songs across her 10 studio albums. The Eras Tour is set to be brought around five continents, including Asia — with her lone Southeast Asia stop being in Singapore in early 2024. Taylor will be on tour until December 2024, ending The Eras Tour in Canada. A tour film was also released in theatres worldwide for fans.

3. Became the winningest act at the BBMAs

In the recently concluded Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), Taylor took home 10 awards including the highly coveted Top Artist and Top Female Artist. With her 10 trophies that night, she now has a total of 39 Billboard awards, making her the all-time winningest artist, along with Canadian singer Drake, for the BBMAs.

What are your thoughts on Taylor’s new title?
