PANTONE 17-3938 a.k.a. Very Peri has been announced as the Pantone Colour Of The Year for 2022. It’s meant to symbolise “personal inventiveness and creativity” through its “courageous presence”.
Fun fact: Very Peri is a new colour in the Pantone catalogue and it was specifically created for 2022. This is to further stress the “global innovation and transformation taking place” in our current reality, says Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute Laurie Pressman via Pantone’s official website. The unique mix of blues and red violets that make up this shade also represents ushering in possibilities and new perspectives.
As always, the Pantone Colour of the Year elicits some of the most interesting reactions from netizens.
One Twitter user said it’s a great turnaround from this year’s colours. Another Twitter user couldn’t help but be reminded of singer Katy Perry because of the shade name. Meanwhile, the majority of K-pop fans were overjoyed by the choice because Very Peri is close to K-pop boy group BTS’ signature purple colour.
Just saying 2022 is BTS’s year. It’s been decided. pic.twitter.com/VkkIEWssgn

It has been announced by Pantone that the Color of the year 2022 would be Very Peri, close to purple, which is BTS's color. Idk, but i just feel that this year would be even more significant for our 7 boys 😊💜💜💜 #BTS_twt #BTS #BTSARMY pic.twitter.com/VjnHuihYqI

However, not everyone was pleased as some thought Sage Green, Mint Green, or basically any shade of green was going to be announced as Pantone Colour Of The Year.
Anticipating the Pantone Colour of the Year has somewhat become a tradition for many of us. After all, this will dictate most of the other trends for 2022.
Now, we’re curious: Will you be wearing or incorporating Very Peri into your life next year?
