We’re about to enter the last quarter of 2021 with so many exciting music releases. There are collabs, comebacks, fresh sounds, and new music projects that come right in time for a much-needed playlist reset (and extra early self Christmas gift, perhaps?). From BTS and Megan Thee Stallion’s collab to Ed Sheeran’s new album, take note of these new music to add to your playlist.

Plus, our music recommendations related to each release.

BTS x Megan Thee Stallion’s Butter remix

Obsessed with BTS’ latest hit Butter? Get ready to experience this bop in a different light. The group just revealed that it’ll release a remix version of the song with American rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion. The song will be released this 27 August.

We recommend you also listen to:
Megan Thee Stallion’s Tuned In Freestyle. This latest release from the rapper will perhaps give you a taste of what the collab will sound like.

BLACKPINK Lisa’s solo album LALISA

Following Jisoo and Rose’s recent solo releases, BLACKPINK’s Lisa just unveiled the visuals for her upcoming solo album. The album is titled LALISA, which references the Thai K-pop idol’s first name. There are still no details about what the album will sound like, but we’re betting the tracks are gonna be edgy, with a high chance of having impressive rap lines, considering that Lisa is BLACKPINK’s rapper. The album is set for release this 1 September.

We recommend you also listen to: Rose’s On The Ground. We’re here for BLACKPINK members doing solo releases on the side. Each of the releases so far show a unique sound while still keeping true to the BLACKPINK identity. What better company to keep than Rose’s solo track as we wait for Lisa’s release to start streaming?

CL’s new album ALPHA

CL (of 2NE1 fame) is set to release a new album titled ALPHA. The teaser for it was posted by the singer, rapper, and songwriter earlier this month, showcasing an intergalactic feel. In anticipation of the album release in October, two tracks will be revealed in August and September.

We recommend you also listen to: the first single from CL’s Alpha titled Spicy. Released this week, the rap song has an electro-pop feel that fits CL’s signature sound. The title is very fitting since the song delivers a spicy kick that definitely leaves a lasting impression.

Lorde’s new album Solar Power

Lorde comes back with new music after a four-year hiatus with Solar Power. The album came as a surprise for fans because it channels a psychedelic vibe, a deviation from the edgy Melodrama album released in 2017. The comeback album is also lyrically a bit more contemplative, with Lorde seeming to reference her experiences as an artist growing in the industry and finding her sound. The album is now available for streaming on Spotify.

We recommend you also listen to: California. While the main track released for this album, Mood Ring, is also a nice track, California captures the essence of Solar Power and Lorde’s comeback the best. We don’t want to spoil it because the track is quite blunt, but it definitely suggests why there’s a change in her music.

Ed Sheeran’s Equals

Ever since the release of Ed Sheeran’s Plus, Multiply, and Divide albums, we wondered if he had plans to name the next ones based on mathematical concepts as well. It looks like 2021 is the year for answers; Ed finally announced his fourth studio album Equals, to be released 29 October. According to a post on his Instagram, he had worked on the album since June 2017. The album will include a track called Visiting Hours, which he dedicates to his friend Michael who passed away this year. Filled with songs about love, loss, and grief, this is yet another Ed Sheeran album we’ll end up loving from the first track to the last.

We recommend you also listen to: Way To Break My Heart (feat. Skrillex). ICYMI, Ed Sheeran didn’t completely go off the grid after his Divide album in 2017. He’s been releasing collabs with various artists, and this track with Skrillex is one of the standouts. It’s a classic Ed Sheeran heartbreak song with a smooth beat as backing. Definitely a great song to gear us up for Equals.
