Earlier this morning, while most of us were sleeping in this part of the world, Ariana Grande did the most low-key album drop announcement. "I can’t wait to give u my album this month," she tweeted. We had to do a double take when we woke up to this news. Is this for real? Apparently, it is. What a pleasant surprise!

The hints we may have missed
Although we already anticipated a new Ariana Grande album, we didn't expect it to be out so soon. It was just last week when the pop star posted an Instagram about "turning in mixes".
In hindsight, there were already some little clues that it's been in the works during this quarantine period. She even shared snippets of music clips featuring her harmonised vocals and some voice clips. There's also that interview Tayla Parx did with Insider in which she mentioned that the Thank U, Next crew got together to work on a new project "after like, five COVID tests, literally".
Best guesses on tracks
But the best sneak peek may just be this 45-second tweet clip posted way back in March. Eventually, a two-minute version made its way on Youtube. The first stanza goes," You got me all up in my feels. In all kind of ways. I be tryna wait, but lately, I just wanna keep it real. No more playin' safe. Let's take it all the way I'm just sayin'." This unreleased song was christened Nasty by fans because of its chorus line "Don't wanna wait on it, tonight I wanna get nasty." Oh, juicy! Unfortunately, these are all just guesses for now and it's still unconfirmed if this particular song will really be on the new Ariana Grande album.
Another possible track that could be included in the new album is Remember, an unreleased song that's supposed to be part of her last release. However, it was ultimately scrapped because Ariana didn't want to share it with the world at the time. Some speculated that it was a tribute to her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who tragically passed away in 2018. Two years later, would she want to share it with fans? We'll just have to wait.
Collaborations on the album?
There are also predictions on collaborations with other artists. The first one has actually already been confirmed. Doja Cat confirmed last month that a partnership between her and Ariana is on the way.
HOWEVER the Ari and Doja collab exists entirely. <3

Ariana also shared in an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music that she "was able to work with her (Doja Cat) earlier this year on this song" and is saving it "for when it's time to drop". This was back in May when strict stay-at-home measures were still in place so it's possible that October is the month that this will "drop" and will be included in her new album.
Aside from Doja Cat, The Weeknd has also been also rumoured to be collabing again with Ariana after he retweeted her post about the new record. Fuelling the rumours, Spotify replied to Ariana's tweet tagging The Weeknd with cryptic emojis. Can you believe that it's been six years since the two worked together for Love Me Harder?
The wait won't be long
It won't be long before we get to listen to Ariana's latest work; we're already halfway through October so really it could drop anytime. Meanwhile, fans — including celebrity supporters — from the world over are stoked and eagerly waiting.
