Chill With These Netflix Originals Coming Next Week

Let's get ready to binge

Stock up on some popcorn if you haven't yet as a lot of Netflix Originals are dropping in the next couple of days. We're talking old-time faves coming back for their succeeding seasons and also newer ones that are slated to be our latest guilty pleasures. Ready to know what they are? From series to movies, celebrity documentaries and reality shows, don't miss out on these Netflix Originals set to wrap up your January 2020.

Sex Education Season 2

Sex Education Season 2 arrives 17 January 2020

The curious title definitely launched the viewership of this British dramedy's first season. However, the positive reception on its take on teenage pregnancy, LGBTQ discrimination, bullying, and complex family dynamics — not to mention the show's inclusive casting — became its foundation for an inevitable Season 2.

In this instalment's trailer, we see Otis (Asa Butterfield) deciding to finally lose his virginity to his girlfriend Ola (Patricia Allison), only for things to get complicated as his first love Maeve (played by the Margot Robbie lookalike, Emma Mackey) comes back into the picture. Things also get a little tangled for Otis' best friend Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) who finally gets himself a new boyfriend, only to find Adam (Connor Swindells) — his bully-turned-one-time-fling — back in town from military school. Oh, the drama! If you haven't seen the first season of this series, you'd definitely want to catch up as you're missing out on a lot of laughs, tears, and a total must-watch.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 arrives on Netflix 24 January 2020

Moving on to another much-anticipated Netflix Original, everyone's favourite teenage witch is back with a whole lot of magic and mayhem. The last we've seen of Sabrina Spellman, she was almost crowned as Queen of Hell, has ended up conspiring with Lilith to take down the Dark Lord, and lost her boyfriend to the underworld — you know, usual teenager stuff.

Now, in the series' Part 3 (1st half of Season 2), she and her mortal friends are up for more challenges as Earth is caught between the chaos of both Heaven and Hell. They must do what they can to restore balance in all of the realms, all while having to deal with regular high school. How will they do it? I guess we have to find out on 24 January 2020.

ARES

Ares arrives on Netflix 17 January 2020

Now that we're done with all the Heaven and Hell talk, it seems a bit of a downplay to talk about cults. But this new Netflix Original makes us think otherwise. Sharing the same suspenseful rhythm as the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Dutch series Ares revolves around an exclusive society made as an entryway to Amsterdam's elite. Taken from the perspective of best friends — and new recruits — Rosa and Jacob, we can't wait to see if they will flee or continue to follow Ares' ideals after uncovering the society's dark secrets.

Next In Fashion

Next In Fashion arrives on Netflix on 29 January 2020

Now onto reality TV, as fashion lovers, we simply can't skip adding Next In Fashion to this list. Headlined by Tan France (Queer Eye) and Alexa Chung, the fashion competition brings in talented designers across the globe to go head-to-head against each other in becoming the next big name in the industry. Aside from the exposure the series will bring to the designers, the winner will also take home USD250,000 and have the opportunity to retail their pieces at Net-A-Porter.com. If reality TV is your guilty pleasure (or simply your jam, just like us!), you simply can't pass up on something this good.

The goop lab with Gwyneth Paltrow

The goop lab with Gwyneth Paltrow arrives on Netflix 24 January 2020

Moving on to another one of our obsessions, Netflix Originals also has something wellness-related coming in the following weeks and it's none other than a reality-TV-show-slash-documentary on The Goop Lab. Of course, we've heard of Gwyneth Paltrow's quirky psychedelics before, but Netflix takes us to its core by going on a deep dive on energy healing, cold therapy, psychic mediums, and more. Whether you're a sceptic or you're really into this interesting take on wellness, you're definitely in on a ride with this one. Who knows? You might end up with an altered mindset on some aspects of yourself at the end of it!

Netflix sure has a lot of interesting drops to wrap up the first month of the year. And no matter what suits your fancy, we're sure that it's just the beginning for yet another year of earning new viewing favourites.
