If there was a title for the best second lead in K-drama last year, it would go to none other than Kim Seon-Ho or better known as Han Ji Pyeong of Netflix’s Start-Up. His breakout role certainly sent the Internet into a tizzy, with fans clamouring for his character to end up with Bae Suzy’s Seo Dal-mi. Though the K-drama already aired its last episode in December, our hunger to know more about Kim Seon-Ho persists, so we’ve pieced together some fun facts about the 34-year-old actor.
He was a theater actor before starring in K-dramas
Before he took people’s hearts with his television debut back in 2017, Kim Seon-Ho was already in theater. In a 2019 interview with Marie Claire Korea, the actor shared that his theater roots go all the way back to his high school acting classes. He went on to further develop his acting chops in the Seoul Institute Of The Arts where he joined a theatre group and even explored the scriptwriting side of production.
He is a triple threat
Not only can this guy act, but he can also carry a tune and move to (some) beats. ICYDK, Kim Seon-Ho starred alongside K-pop star D.O of EXO in the 2018 historical drama 100 Days My Prince. The cast promised that they’ll perform an EXO song if the show got good ratings. Well, there’s no surprise that it did so Seon-Ho, D.O, and the rest of the cast did a quick dance cover of EXO’s “Growl”. You can also see him dance a bit on variety shows, like when SHINee’s Taemin guested on 2 Days & 1 Night. As for his singing, he has also sung a few bars in Welcome To Waikiki 2 (2019) during one of its episodes. Oh, did we mention he can also paint?
He has a cute nickname
Who wouldn’t swoon over an actor with a cute smile? Seon-Ho is actually nicknamed Dimple Prince for his, well, dimples that appear whenever he grins. The actor thanks his mum for that particular feature since he inherited it from her. “All the men on my mother’s side of the family have dimples,” he said in an interview with The Swoon. It adds on to his good boy charm, don’t you think?
He used to want to become a doctor
Before he fell in love with the art of acting, Seon-Ho’s childhood dream was to help people as a doctor. In one of the episodes of 2 Days & 1 Night, a Korean variety show where he’s a regular cast member, Seon-Ho’s school records were revealed with a note of his aspirations, though, funnily enough, he couldn’t remember why he said so in the first place. Maybe he’ll be able to play one in a drama soon instead?
He used to fear riding a plane
Seon-ho also shared that he struggles a lot with being in unfamiliar situations including flying. So it wasn’t until he was 32 that he first flew on an airplane. It seems like the fear has subsided — if not disappeared — though since then. He’s been enjoying some domestic and international travelling and even visited Cebu, Philippines as a reward for his work on the drama Good Manager in 2017.
If you want to get to know Kim Seon-Ho more, he’s having an online fan meeting on 17 January, 7PM SGT through the TikTok Stage Connect account. Tune in and get up close and personal with the Internet’s Dimple Prince!
