Don’t Miss These 5 Crucial Hints From The Latest ‘Doctor Strange’ Teaser Trailer

Spoiler alert: Things get pretty out of control

Multiverse? Metaverse? These hypothesised iterations are set to take centre stage in 2022. The latest news to back up this claim? The official teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The upcoming film by Marvel Studios is set to premiere exclusively in cinemas from 4 May 2022. Here are five crucial hints from the trailer that you shouldn’t miss out on.

Scarlet Witch plays a major role in this movie

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is seen travelling to a serene location to visit Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch. Scarlet Witch, who is played by Elizabeth Olsen, had been spending her time in isolation following the events that occurred in WandaVision. She anticipates Doctor Strange’s arrival, yet is surprised to learn that he needs her help to resolve the chaotic problems arising in the multiverse. Her powers will come into play in this film in a major way.

Doctor Strange is spotted with tentacle hands

What’s a superhero movie without an epic battle involving villains and massive monsters? IGN hinted that the giant eye-squid monster spotted in the trailer is none other than Shuma-Gorath, a villain and Doctor Strange’s longtime nemesis. This ancient demon is able to communicate with and control other lifeforms across dimensions. What’s more surprising, though, was seeing Doctor Strange unleash a pair of tentacle hands, which we believe belong to said eye-squid monster. Who is he fighting against with those tentacle hands? We can’t wait to find out.

America Chavez makes her live-action debut

Marvel’s first major LGBT, Latinx hero will officially appear in this movie. Played by 15-year-old Baby-Sitters Club actress Xochitl (pronounced as “so-cheel”) Gomez, America Chavez has superhuman strength, speed, flight. But more importantly, she also has the ability to create “interdimensional portals by separating dimensions”, which will prove to be particularly useful as she helps Doctor Strange navigate the multiple problems that they will encounter in the multiverse. Expect to see more of America Chavez in future Marvel films too!

Marvel Studios presented multiple iterations of its iconic logo

From what we’ve seen with Spiderman: No Way Home and now in the new Doctor Strange trailer, Marvel Studios has well ‘entered’ the multiverse and intends to explore it even further. This is evident in its logo intro that’s presented in the trailer, where we see it shifting between various versions. You can spot this at the 0:43 mark of the trailer. We’re in for a wild ride, folks!

Doctor Strange versus Doctor Strange? Yes, you read that right

One of the key lines that we hear in the trailer comes from Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo, who said the following to Doctor Strange: “The greatest threat to our universe… is you.” And indeed, by the end of the trailer, Doctor Strange is seen confronting his evil doppelganger. How will Doctor Strange defeat himself? We’ll only get our answers when the film comes out in cinemas on 6 May 2022.
