BTS is now officially the most awarded music group in Billboard Music Awards history as of 2022. The Korean pop idol group broke the record previously held by Destiny's Child with the three awards — out of six nominations — that they won during the awards ceremony held over the weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On 15 May, BTS snagged the Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song for their song Butter. This marks the second year in a row that the group won this set of awards.
Since BTS was first nominated and awarded in the Billboard Music Awards in 2017, the group has won at least one trophy each year. With the three newest trophies, BTS now has a total of 12 Billboard Music Awards wins. The previous record was 11, which Destiny's Child — comprised of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams — held for the past 17 years.
BTS was also nominated in the award show’s new categories. Namely, the Top Billboard Global Artist (Excluding U.S.) and the Top Billboard Global Song (Excluding U.S.) for Butter. They were also nominated for Top Selling Song for Permission To Dance. Their last nomination was for their collaboration song My Universe with British band Coldplay, which was acknowledged for the Top Rock Song category.
The idol group was not in attendance during the ceremony due to preparations for their upcoming comeback in June.
Congratulations and kudos, BTS!
