But of course, to make your lazy weekends more fun, we're sure you'd be needing more exciting titles to fill up your personal watchlist. Luckily for us all, our go-to streaming platform is releasing a bunch of titles next month. So sit back, literally watch Netflix, and chill at home with these August 2020 Netflix releases coming your way.
Work It
For your Friday movie night next 7 August, catch dance comedy Work It as it premieres on the streaming platform. The coming-of-age movie stars Sabrina Carpenter as Quinn Ackerman, a girl desperate to win a dance competition to get to the college of her dreams. She taps a group of misfits to join her in taking on the best dance squad in school. The catch? She's got no talent for dancing at all.
What hooked us in: Who doesn't love light-hearted teen flicks, right? Not to mention, Jordan Fisher joins Work It's cast as a potential love interest. After his role as John Ambrose McClaren in TATBILB 2, we couldn't help but want to see his dreamy eyes once more. Fingers crossed, he'll get his happily ever in this one.
(Un)Well
Are all the wellness trends we catch on really effective? Well, this documentary show will pretty much answer all your questions when it's released on 12 August. Diving deep into the global industry worth trillions of dollars, (Un)Well investigates whether the practices and products that promise us our well-being truly are good for our health.
What hooked us in: We want to take control of our health, so it's pretty much understandable that we try out things that we believe would greatly benefit us. And (Un)Well lends us its discerning eye so we can see for ourselves healing practices that are just too good to be true.
The Great Heist / El Robo Del Siglo
Those looking for some suspense would be happy to know that the wide array of August Netflix 2020 releases coming up also includes Colombian heist thriller, The Great Heist or El Robo Del Siglo (literally "The Robbery of the Century"). The new series streaming on 14 August is inspired by the 1994 robbery of Colombia's Bank of the Republic. It imagines the perspective of the thieves who banded together to steal millions in one of the greatest bank heists in Latin America.
What hooked us in: Its premise draws parallels to the Netflix Original hit, Money Heist, so we're looking forward to seeing how this can compare in delivering intensely captivating scenes while keeping us guessing along the way. With only just six episodes for its first season, we can already imagine getting through all of its thrilling scenes in just one sitting.
Project Power
Another thrilling one of August Netflix 2020 releases is Project Power. The action blockbuster is headlined by none other than Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jamie Foxx storming the streets of New Orleans as an ex-soldier and a cop. In the midst of a drug epidemic, the duo hunts for the source behind a new drug that gives people temporary superpowers.
What hooked us in: We know from their past films that Jamie Foxx and JGL can do great in the action-adventure genre, but we're definitely curious to see how the two will work together and form an indestructible team this 14 August.
Million Dollar Beach House
Loved Selling Sunset? Well, you're in luck because, aside from the third season of the show coming on Netflix this month, you're also getting a new reality realtor show later on this month. Available for streaming this 26 August, Million Dollar Beach House also revolves around the lives of savvy real estate agents. Instead of fighting over properties in LA, however, these agents from real estate company Nest Seekers will be catering to high-end clients looking to find the homes in New York's luxurious summer capital: the Hamptons.
What hooked us in: We can't get enough of the glamorous pads and, obviously, the drama between the ladies in Selling Sunset, so we're looking forward to seeing more of these real estate and real-life dilemmas in Million Dollar Beach House. Their cast has more male realtors too, so we're curious how different the group's dynamics would be in this one.
