Look: Nike Air Max 90 Gets A Denim Makeover

A pair you can take from the streets to the trail

Attention all denim and sneaker lovers! The Nike Air Max 90 Denim is on its way to you. True to its name, this upcoming iteration of the beloved Air Max 90 is clad in light-wash denim fabric — dressing up the entirety of the pair's upper including the toe box, mudguard and up to the rear end.

The Nike Air Max 90 Denim is the latest shoe to join Nike’s denim-clad line-up.

Although not an officially recognised inspiration, the hits of bright red via the embroidered Swooshes, tongue tags, and heel tab are reminiscent of the iconic Levi's 501 jeans which come with a signature red tag. Further down, the sole unit also makes an impression with its eye-catching bold red Air unit.

The Nike Air Max 90 Denim is not the first shoe that's been dressed in denim. Nike's equally popular silhouettes, Blazer Mid '77 and Dunk High, also got a recent denim makeover.

Nike Air Max 90 Black and White

The Nike Air Max 90 is one of the most iconic Nike silhouettes.

The Nike Air Max 90 was created by shoe designer Tinker Hatfield and first debuted in the market in 1990 with a black, white, and red colourway. Since then, the shoe became a canvas for various tweaks and designs. The most recent version that drew a lot of fanfare is its collaboration with Amsterdam-based streetwear and sneaker boutique Patta which sees the mudguard take on a wavy aesthetic.

Nike x Patta is one of the most recent hyped-up releases spotlighting the Air Max 90.

However, the features that made it famous — such as the comfortable and stylish Air unit cushioning and the upper's layered look — remain the same. Today, it remains to be a versatile shoe that can be used for fitness activities but also works great as an everyday pair.

This article will be updated with the release date and pricing of the Nike Air Max 90 Denim in Singapore as more information becomes available.
