Start and end the day right

Starting a new fitness habit can be challenging, but it's helpful to take baby steps. If you want to incorporate yoga into your daily life, doing this super easy five-minute relaxing yoga routine demonstrated by instructor Cheyenne is a good place to start.

Begin the day on a good note by doing simple stretches that consist of supine twist, thread needle twist, extended puppy pose, gomukhasana, thunderbolt pose with shoulder and spine stretch and child pose. While doing so, you can also do some meditation and set your intention for the day.

After a day's work, a yoga routine can act as a stress relief. It will also help you wind down, quiet your mind and prepare yourself for a good night's sleep.

Yoga routine for winding down.

This relaxing yoga routine features seven well-known positions: cat-cow, downward dog, easy twist, low lunges, half-split, butterfly pole and reclined hero pose. As with any yin yoga exercise, the moves are held longer than usual. Sometimes, it may be uncomfortable and you may feel some tightness in your muscles. When this happens, just breathe through it until it's time to transition to the next pose. However, remember that there is a difference between uncomfortable feeling due to muscles tightness and pain. At any signs of pain, carefully release yourself from the position and consult with a health professional if needed.

With enough practice, the positions may get easier for you over time and it will feel natural to do a yoga routine every day in the morning and at night.
