During these uncertain times, it's become more important than ever to take a breather and calm our thoughts. One of the ways you can do this is through yoga. This ancient practice that aims to harmonise the mind and body is proven to decrease stress levels, reduce anxiety, help maintain cardiovascular health, boost one's mood, and improve flexibility.
Ready to get started? Follow this energising gentle yoga routine demonstrated by instructor Cheyenne. It's perfect for unwinding after a long day to get back that energy or make it a part of your morning routine so you can start the day refreshed, calm and collected. Prepare a mat and a block or anything that can support you like a stack of books.
This energising gentle yoga routine starts with cat-cow stretch that's great for stimulating your spine and helps to put you in a calm headspace. Check your alignment and make sure your knees are below your hips and your wrists, elbows and shoulders should also be in line. At this point, you can start controlling your breath; inhale in cat pose and exhale as you round your spine and transition towards cow pose.
From here, you'll do planks, downward-facing dogs, warrior poses, boat poses, triangle poses, and end in child pose. Nothing too complicated and can be practised by beginners and seasoned yogis alike.
If you're feeling anxious lately or just need some calmness in your life, remember to slow down and try to practice this energising gentle yoga routine at your own leisure.
