It’s no secret that the New Balance 550 is one of the brand’s most popular shoe styles right now. What was once considered an obscure basketball silhouette has now become a wardrobe must-have for the fashionable bunch. And now it’s likely to get new colourways!

Aimé Leon Dore founder and New Balance Made in USA Creative Director Teddy Santis teased fresh New Balance 550 colourways via Instagram Stories. The slides showed a pair with a cream mesh toebox and lush green leather overlays. Beside it was a 550 shoe with a navy and cream palette. At the back was a peek of a grey shoe.

Along with the tease of the latest New Balance 550 colourways, Teddy Santis also featured a New Balance 991 shoe that has a cream-coloured mesh base with tan and lush green leather overlays.
The recent hype surrounding the New Balance 550 is largely accredited to Teddy Santis who unearthed the 1989-born low-top basketball silhouette from the archives.
New Balance 550’s comeback in 2020 came with the classic features created by Steven Smith, the so-called “Godfather of Dad Shoes”, in the ‘80s. It also included pairs that were dressed in the original colourways along with fresh, modern palettes. Since then, the 550 has been spotted worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and other fashion influencers.
