The star-studded Oscars 2023 is finally here. Instead of a red carpet, the organisers decided to roll out a champagne-coloured one in hopes that its colour would remind everyone of a peaceful, sandy beach. So it’s out with the old for the Oscars carpet, but we’re delighted that some things never change, like the stars’ love for elegant, black-and-white looks.

A diamond in the sky.
Rihanna stole the show with her sweet plus one (her baby number two), highlighted by her Alaïa dress which came with a leather black bra top. Her beauty look included bold black eyeliner, maple red lipstick (which reminded us of her iconic lipstick launch moment at the Super Bowl), and blood-red nails. She wore her hair with an effortless top knot (updos seemed to be a beloved hairstyle on the carpet).
Rihanna is a first-time Oscar nominee and performer. She honoured the late actor Chadwick Boseman with her emotional performance of her song, ‘Lift Me Up’.
2. Deepika Padukone
She is one of the presenters at the ceremony and is known for representing Indian cinema in various international films. She was also one of the jury members at the Cannes Film Festival last year.

Fun fact: when she came to present the Best Original Score, she wore the same dress but this time in an all-black hue and paired it with a brighter red lip too. Talk about girls who could slay both!
