These Are The World’s Safest Airlines For 2022

According to AirlineRatings.com

Airline safety and product review website AirlineRatings.com has announced its annual list of the world’s safest airlines. After monitoring 385 carriers from around the world, it has selected Air New Zealand as the world’s safest airline for 2022. Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways are ranked second and third respectively, while Singapore Airlines takes fourth place.

The site revealed that Air New Zealand is a “stand-out airline with a firm focus on safety and its customers.” Its Editor-in-Chief Geoffery Thomas shared that the airline has “excelled across the broad safety spectrum.” Thomas further added that Air New Zealand was awarded first place due to its “excellent incident record, number of cockpit innovations, pilot training and very low fleet age.”

For this annual evaluation, the site shared that it takes into account a comprehensive range of factors. This includes the airline’s crash over five years, its serious incident record over two years, audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, government audits, industry-leading safety initiatives, fleet age, and COVID-19 safety protocols.

Qantas, which was awarded the world’s safest airline in 2021, did not make the list this year as it experienced an incident at Perth Airport in 2018. The site shared that the report for this accident was not issued till 2020, and hence it was “too late” to be included in the site’s 2021 rankings.
