The past week just flew by, didn’t it? But don’t let it sweep you away. Some recent news in beauty and entertainment are stuff you really don’t want to miss. Have you listened to Taylor Swift’s re-mastered version of Love Story yet? Or have you heard of Givenchy’s upcoming foundation launch? Sephora Malaysia has some announcements too. We’ve barely scratched the surface of the heaping pile of exciting headlines, so read on to stay informed.
Taylor Swift re-releases Love Story with more to come
Taylor Swift, fresh from her folklore and evermore success, put a new spin to her iconic Love Story song which was initially released in 2008 under her Fearless album. It soared to the top of music charts, eventually selling 18 million copies worldwide. It’s been more than a decade since so Swifties around the world were hit with a massive dose of nostalgia when Taylor announced that she re-recorded Love Story (Taylor’s Version). If that wasn’t enough, she’s re-releasing Fearless too. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is set to release on 9 April 2021, with six never-before-heard singles, so get ready to feel all the feels once it drops!
Bridgerton casts their new female lead for Season 2
Speaking of hits, Netflix’s most-watched series Bridgerton announced that they’ve cast the new female lead for their second season. Since the show follows the best-selling Bridgerton novels by Julia Quinn, the next season will focus on the story of the eldest Bridgerton, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. If you can recall (or spoiler if you haven’t finished watching the show yet) Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) ended the series determined to find a wife. Well, we now know who it will be: Sex Education’s Simone Ashley will be playing Kate Sharma (formerly Sheffield in the books), and adding some South Asian representation to the already diverse cast. Are you excited for season 2? We know we are, so our eyes are set on some behind-the-scenes footage as they begin shooting in the next few months.
See Wednesday Addams in live action
While we’re on the topic of Netflix shows, it seems we’ll be finding a new go-to source for dark humour from a new Netflix original series. Netflix just announced that they will be releasing a live-action series featuring Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. We’re curious to see how this newest take on the character will be refreshed for the new generation of viewers. Seeing as Tim Burton will be directing the show, we’re ready for some bizarre and out-of-the-box possibilities. While we’re at it, who do you think will be cast as Wednesday? They have big shoes to fill, since they will be following in the footsteps of Christina Ricci, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Lisa Loring.
We’re getting sequels to Parasite
Aside from Tim Burton, another award-winning director has some news of his own. Bong Joon-Ho revealed during his guest appearance on The Director’s Cut podcast that he already has a finished script for a follow-up film to Parasite, and another one in the works. So far, all he’s revealed is that one of the films is set in Seoul while the other will be split between the US and the UK. It will be interesting to see how the Korean director will characterise the Western social nuances, don’t you think?
Givenchy to launch Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Glow Foundation
Setting aside entertainment headlines, we’re also excited for some new beauty releases. Namely, Givenchy’s upcoming Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Glow Foundation. The hybrid foundation will be made of 90 per cent skincare ingredients, so you’ll get some nourishment with your bomb makeup looks. The glowy foundation will be available in 16 shades through Sephora Singapore stores, website, and Takashimaya Department Stores starting 11 March.
