Gwen Stefani’s no makeup selfies still wow the Internet every time she deigns to post a rare bare-faced look. But the singer is more likely to be wearing her signature red lip, as seen throughout the course of her singing career. She even wore it to her wedding to country singer Blake Shelton over the weekend!
But those are not the only looks the former No Doubt frontwoman rocked. We’re taking a look back at her most memorable makeup looks over the years. Here are our top picks!
Her simple wedding day glam
Gwen’s wedding makeup look is a slightly more glam variation of her signature look. She had a bold yet classic red lip and strong, sculpted brows to frame her face. Her eyes were lightly lined with subtle black eyeliner and finished with voluminous lashes. As for the hair, a sleek top knot kept her tresses away from her face and held her Vera Wang veil in place. The bridal glam look was very classy — one we’re sure will spark more of its kind in the future.
Cop the look: The BITE Beauty Power Move Soft Matte Lipstick in Cayenne is a spicy red hue that we can totally see Gwen wearing IRL! Watch out for its launch on Sephora Singapore this 12 July.
The classic Gwen
To give you an idea of what she usually wears for her performances, here’s a throwback to her Hollaback Girl era in 2009. You can’t spot a hint of colour except for her red pout. Blush? Nope. Bronzer? What’s that? While Gwen has incorporated more products into her makeup looks since then, she always comes back to the red lip.
Cop the look: As a Revlon ambassador since 2017, Gwen has shared that her go-to lippie is the Revlon SuperLustrous Lipstick in Cherries In The Snow. If you want it bolder, the Extra Spicy shade is also a flattering colour.
‘90s-inspired
Gwen’s music chart debut happened in 1995, so we can’t forget some of her iconic looks in that decade. One of our faves is this plum purple moment that she posted recently. The dark lip is quintessentially 90s, especially when paired with the thin brows and pink-tipped blonde mane.
Cop the look: For a similar purple pout, The Disney Cruella Collection By MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Glamarchy is the lippie you need to have in your kit.
Barbie-doll pink
While bold lips are her signature look, she also tones it down a bit with nude browns and pinks from time to time. Take this doll pink lip look for one of the episodes of The Voice, where she’s been an on-and-off coach since 2014, for example. She paired the pink lip with a sparkly silver eyeshadow, sharp winged eyeliner, and lightly curled hair. The black hair bow ties it all together.
Cop the look: We’d pick the Gucci Beauty Rouge De Beaute Brillant Lipstick in Julie Blush and the Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner (launching this 15 July on Sephora Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines) to recreate this cute moment.
Old-school natural glam
Like most of us, Gwen has a penchant for some retro-inspired makeup looks. Remember her Sweet Escape music video? Yup, we’re not forgetting that classic anytime soon. In this 2016 post, Gwen shows off her glamourously tousled curls that complement the natural makeup she has on. Her very nude pink lip and curled lashes look great, but it’s the strong arched brows that seal the deal.
Cop the look: Turn to the MAKE UP FOREVER Aqua Resist Brow Filler to create your own defined arches and set them in place with the NUDESTIX Brow Boost + Set Gel XL Eyebrows.
Barely there, no-makeup makeup
Finally, we can’t forget to mention the rare Gwen Stefani no makeup selfie looks. No complexion products or lipsticks to be seen here — just a few swipes of mascara to emphasise her lashes and filled-in brows. It’s just the right amount of makeup for casual days with loved ones, so we can see why she prefers to tone it down for these sweet moments.
Cop the look: Take a cue from Gwen and swipe on a few coats of the espressoh Mascara Intenso to curl, lengthen, volumise your lashes for your no-makeup makeup days.
