‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2 Review: A Chaotic Love Story That Keeps You Hooked

Love triangles? Try love chaos

XO, Kitty is back, and it’s serving up even more drama, more heartbreak, and yes — more love geometry. If you thought Season 1 was messy, buckle up because this season takes relationship chaos to a whole new level. Kitty (Anna Cathcart) is still our lovable matchmaker-in-the-middle, but this time, the love square has mutated into an entire love octagon. From Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) to Yuri (Gia Kim) and new wild-card love interests, this season keeps you guessing (and gasping) at every turn.

Here's our review of XO, Kitty Season 2 (spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the newest season yet).

A quick recap of XO, Kitty Season 1

Before we dive into the madness of Season 2, let’s rewind. Last season, Kitty broke up with Dae (Minyeong Choi), nearly confessed her feelings to Yuri, got expelled, and then re-admitted to KISS (the Korean Independent School of Seoul). Just when she was about to catch her breath, Min Ho dropped a mega love confession on their flight to LA. Whew. That set the stage for an even juicier Season 2, and oh boy, did it deliver.

What felt too much: XO, Kitty Season 2’s never-ending relationship drama

Season 2 didn’t just play with high school romance tropes, it asked ChatGPT how to crank up the relationship drama to a whole new level of chaos. Kitty was determined to start fresh at KISS, but of course, that plan is stopped by the self-declared matchmaker’s magnet for relationship drama.

She’s back with bestie Q (Anthony Keyvan), playing nice with ex-boyfriend Dae, and trying to move on from her mega crush on Yuri — who, by the way, is happily back with her girlfriend Juliana (Regan Aliyah). Oh, and they’re also her roommates. It’s a very complicated situation for a young girl exploring their sexuality and feelings for a friend. Meanwhile, Min Ho is still dealing with the emotional whiplash of his confession.

Add in new faces like American student Praveena (Sasha Bhasin) and roommate Stella (Audrey Huynh), who has her own bag of secrets, and stirs up some jealous feelings for Kitty when she gets with Min Ho. There were too many ships and too many unresolved feelings swept under the rug to meet the short run time.

What we liked: Kitty finally gets answers about her mother

Beyond the romance, Season 2 also delivers a heartfelt deep-dive into Kitty’s family history. Turns out, her halmoni (‘grandmother’ in Korean) left Korea after being disowned for dating an American man (who later became Kitty’s grandfather). Kitty’s mom had tried to reconnect with her roots before she passed away, and now Kitty gets to finish what she started.

Her sister, Margot, (Janel Parrish) video calls Kitty and tells her that their grandmother is finally ready to return to South Korea to reunite with her sister. Margot also decides to tag along before starting her new job in Scotland. But how do they get there? Enter Min Ho, who casually offers his dad’s private jet to fly them in style.

When they arrive in Bukjeon, the emotional payoff is huge. Kitty and Margot meet their cousin Jiwon, who is performing a jesa ritual (paying homage to ancestors and spirits) for their late mother. As their grandmother and great-aunt catch up, Margot has a heartfelt moment with Kitty, telling her she’s the most like their mom and that she would be so proud of her.

What makes us want Season 3: Kitty and Min Ho endgame

Let’s talk about the slowest burn of the show: Kitty and Min Ho. Fans have been waiting for that moment when they finally cave into their obvious chemistry, but guess what? It never happens. After everything they’ve been through, from Kitty helping Min Ho reconnect with his estranged, Simon Cowell-esque dad to Min Ho saving the day by flying Kitty’s halmoni and Margot to Korea in his private jet, you’d think a kiss would happen.

However, we can expect their relationship to truly blossom in the third season. XO, Kitty Season 2 had breadcrumbs that pointed to Kitty and Min Ho being endgame. Peter Kavinksy’s cameo felt like he was steering Kitty in Min Ho’s direction when he said, “He remembers every single word you ever said, but he still pretends to be annoyed when you talk too much. Classic.” If that isn’t love, then we don’t know what is.

And with Season 3 in the works, it’s only a matter of time before the slow burn stops burning. Fingers crossed for the kiss we’ve all been waiting for.

Overall verdict: XO, Kitty Season 2 was a loveable hot mess

XO, Kitty Season 2 is a whirlwind of emotions, romance, and the kind of over-the-top drama that makes you hit “Next Episode” without thinking. Min Ho’s character growth, the Cherry Blossom Ball tension (not to say too much, but iykyk), and the deep family storyline give the season extra layers beyond the love chaos. But if there’s one thing XO, Kitty knows how to do, it’s keep us coming back for more. So bring on Season 3, because we need answers. And a kiss.

Below we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about XO, Kitty season 2.

Did XO, Kitty Season 2 feature any new celebrity cameos?

Last season, we got a surprise visit from 2PM’s Taecyeon as an idol from a fictional K-pop group (and Min Ho’s mom’s former fling). So, of course, Season 2 had to bring in another K-pop idol cameo! Enter Min Ho’s half-brother, Joon Ho — his father’s favourite son played by BTOB’s Peniel Shin.

Which episode of XO, Kitty Season 2 did Peter Kavinksy (played by Noah Centineo) appear in?

If you’ve been holding out for an OG To All The Boys cameo, you’re in luck! This season brought us not one but two familiar faces: Kitty’s older sister Margot and everyone’s favourite golden retriever boyfriend, Peter Kavinsky. Noah Centineo pops up in episode six of Season 2.

Does Kitty end up with Min Ho in Season 2?

That’s a mystery only a potential Season 3 can solve. The season wraps with Kitty finally ready to confess her feelings—but just as she’s about to, Min Ho hits pause on relationships and jets off on his dad’s summer tour with his K-pop idol brother. (Rude, but okay.) However, there’s definitely hope. Kitty’s last-minute move? Asking if she can tag along on the tour.
