Before we zoom into the products, let’s first take a look at the difference between BHA and AHA. BHA or beta-hydroxy acid has one main type — salicylic acid. It possesses the ability to exfoliate deep into pores thanks to its oil-soluble nature.
AHAs or alpha hydroxy acids help exfoliate the skin’s upper layers and its different types include lactic, glycolic and mandelic acids. These work to resurface the skin and reveal fresh new skin cells.
The OG Paula’s Choice liquid exfoliant contains BHA which is perfect if you’d like to reduce large pores and if you have acne-prone skin. Meanwhile, the Paula’s Choice 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant has AHA to soften fine lines and wrinkles and brighten skin.
