If you've been eyeing the strawberry dress that became viral over the past few months, we're right there with you. The Lirika Matoshi Strawberry Dress — in all its pink tulle and sequined berry glory — has caught the attention of women around the world. Lirika Matoshi, a Kosovo-born New York-based designer, painstakingly makes this dress by hand and accommodates sizes up to triple XL.
Plus-sized model Tess Holliday first brought this frock to the spotlight during this year's Grammys before it eventually found its way to TikTok infamy.
But despite its lovely and charming design, we have to ask: how does one actually style it in this pandemic? After all, we won't be going to a big special occasion like the Grammys anytime soon. It doesn't hurt to just imagine the different accessories and makeup looks that will go perfectly with it. So if you feel that this dress suits your personal aesthetic, here's what we think you should wear with the viral strawberry dress.
Subtle makeup
The head-turning ensemble could look a little over-the-top if paired with bright makeup. So instead, go for subtle hues such as the Clinique Cheek Pop in Peach Pop and the Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet in 753 on your cheeks and lips. Then, apply some of the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara for lush lashes.
A dainty bag
While the dress is already quite flamboyant, we can't help but think of adding a little more pink to this 'fit. The Topshop Ally Purse would be a good match with the Lirika Matoshi strawberry dress. For those with more minimalist taste, the Chloé Mini Marcie Bag would also look good with this dress.
Neutral shoes
When it comes to shoes, we'll tone it down and go for some nude sandals or heels. For a prairie girl aesthetic, these Castañer Carina Wedged Espadrilles have a rustic look. The Charles & Keith Embellished Mules are also a good option for a more chic urbanite approach to styling this trendy dress.
Minimal jewellery
To make the Lirika Matoshi strawberry dress more wearable, minimal touches in the jewellery department can help tone it down. A classy pair of stud or hoop earrings will add enough detail to accentuate the look we’re going for. For this, we’d look to the Topaz Baguette Gold Sterling Silver Earrings from Wanderlust and Co.
A matching mask
Just when you think the obsession it's over, we found out that Lirika Matoshi also makes a face mask in the same sequin embroidery as the original strawberry dress. Needless to say, this glamorous pairing is at the top of our wishlist. But if you want a more subdued (and affordable) option, this plain Olivia Manila satin mask comes in a similar light pink hue.
The all-pink look not for you? No worries, there's also a black version of this viral dress that’s just as cute.
