NOCTA, Nike and Drake’s collaborative label that produces street style-inspired pieces, launched its first sneaker — the Nocta Hot Step Air Terra — in March. Only one month after the release of their debut shoe, the giant sportswear brand and the Laugh Now Cry Later rapper-singer may have another pair coming soon.
Drake was recently spotted wearing a new set of yet-to-be-released Nike trainers at a Toronto Raptors game. The mystery sneakers bear an uncanny resemblance to the basketball shoe Air Zoom Flight 95 because of their carbon fibre details and other similar features.
Drake x Nike shoes versus Air Zoom Flight 95
These newly surfaced Drake x Nike sneakers are compared to the Air Zoom Flight 95 for good reason. Like the original Air Zoom Flight 95 designed by Eric Avar (he’s also the chief designer of Kobe Bryant's signature sneakers) in the mid-'90s, the fresh trainers recently spotted on Drake have circular cut-out designs at the midsole, which are similar to the “bubbles” on the Air Zoom Flight 95. The two-toned colourway is another signature characteristic that the unnamed “Drake sneakers” share with Eric Avar’s creation.
However, this new rendition has sleeker lines and a clean-cut design, which gives the retro-inspired shoe a futuristic feel.
This article will be updated with the release date of the unnamed Drake x Nike sneakers as more information becomes available.
