FaceTime: We Recreate BLACKPINK Lisa’s Purple Eye Makeup Look

A lot of glitter and dazzle

ICYMI: BLACKPINK’s main dancer Lisa Manoban is the newest MAC Cosmetics global brand ambassador. We’ve been gushing over all of her photos on MAC Cosmetics’ IG feed but her very first look for the brand — a sparkly purple eyeshadow moment — inspired us to flex our makeup muscles. Follow along as we walk you through the steps of her Dazzleshadow Eyes look. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot of glitter and shine.

Step 1: Start with a good base

First, let’s set up our base. We want to look fresh and matte, but still with a little hint of glow. Using a beauty sponge, we applied the product to even out our skin tone. If you want fuller coverage, you can use a foundation brush instead. Just remember that we want to illuminate the high points of the face, so don’t be too heavy-handed in this step.

Use the: Best-selling Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation (we used the shade NC20) to recreate BLACKPINK Lisa’s fresh-faced makeup look. It has medium to full coverage and a lightweight matte finish. Build it up or sheer it out to your liking.

Step 2: Layer your eyeshadow colours

Now, let’s move on to the main event: the eyes. Start with a matte brown eyeshadow to act as a transition shade and emphasise the crease. If you have hooded eyelids, you can follow our example of applying it on the outer half of your eyelid and blending it inwards. Blending is key to nailing this look, so be patient as you diffuse the eyeshadow as much as you can.

Lisa’s purple eye makeup look also features a beautiful purple-pink eyeshadow on the inner eyelids and lower lashline. Apply this liberally until you achieve the pop of colour you desire. Then, pick up a thin pencil brush to put more of the pearlescent eyeshadow to the lower inner corner of your eye to bring the whole look together.

Use the: MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Espresso (a muted brown hue) for transition shade and then Stars ‘N’ Rockets for the pop of purple we’re seeing on Lisa.

Step 3: Nail the perfect cat-eye

We also added a dash of liquid eyeliner to mimic Lalisa’s feline gaze. The sharper the wing, the better! If you find it difficult to apply liquid eyeliner, find a flat surface, like a table, where you can place your elbows for stability. Look down at your mirror and use the tip to follow along your lash line. You can go for a thicker line; this is just the base of the next step in recreating BLACKPINK Lisa’s purple eye makeup look.

Use the: MAC Cosmetics Brushstroke 24 Hour Eyeliner which has a fine precision brush tip that allows you to make crisp, sharp lines with ease.

Step 4: Add some dazzling glitter

To perfectly recreate BLACKPINK Lisa’s purple eye makeup look, we need to layer three types of ultra-sparkly liquid glitter eyeshadow. Start with a black-ish liquid eyeshadow with flecks of green and purple right above the black liquid liner you just applied as we start building up the colour. Next, put some holographic blue liquid eyeshadow with pink pearls to give a new dimension to the liner. Finish it with a silver liquid eyeshadow to amplify the holographic effect. Remember to use a thin brush to achieve a clean, sharp line and let each layer fully dry before applying the next one. Don’t forget to curl your lashes and apply some mascara, too.

Use the: MAC Cosmetics Dazzleshadow Liquid in Pantherized, Diamond Crumbles, and Not Afraid To Sparkle for high impact shine.

Step 5: Seal the deal with highlighter

We’re adding some more glow with a golden-finish highlighter. Using a fluffy powder brush, dust the highlighter on the highest points of your cheekbones. Blend the glow-giving powder, so it doesn’t leave a harsh streak of glitter. Start with just a little bit and gradually build it up. This leaves a luminous glow to the skin like a K-pop idol’s if you don’t mind us saying so.

Use the: MAC Cosmetics Extra Dimension Skin Finish Highlighter in Show Gold, a pressed powder highlighter that leaves a subtle sheen on the skin.

Step 6: Pout it out

Since we went all out with the shine for our eyes, we’re keeping the lips simple. To prevent dry, chapped lips, prep your pout with a lightweight, colour-free lip primer. Then, pick up a matte peachy lipstick. Gently dab the colour on your lips to create a softly blurred effect, just like Lisa’s.
