The 2022 MTV EMA happened on 13 November in Dusseldorf, Germany and was hosted by Rita Ora and Taika Waititi. The award ceremony introduced two new categories this year — “Best Long-form Video” (won by Taylor Swift) and “Best Metaverse Performance” (won by BLACKPINK).

MTV EMA 2022: nominations and winners

It was a night to remember as Taylor Swift won four out of her six nominations, namely, “Best Artist,” “Best Pop,” “Best Video” and “Best Longform Video.” The latter two were the fruit of the artist’s well-received “All Too Well” (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version). During her speech, she mentioned that her fans “willed” the video to happen and saw that it had a life beyond the first time the song came out 10 years ago.

Harry Styles also garnered multiple nominations for different categories such as “Best Artist,” “Best Song” and “Best Video”. He won awards for “Best Live” and “Best U.K. and Ireland Act.”

David Guetta and Bebe Rexha won “Best Collaboration” with their song, “I’m Good (Blue)”.

Over on the K-pop side, BLACKPINK’s Lisa won “Best K-Pop” and the girl group also won “Best Metaverse Performance” for “BLACKPINK The Virtual | PUBG”. BTS and ARMY, of course, won “Biggest Fans.” SEVENTEEN won two awards — “Best New Artist” and “Best Push”.
