Before going solo, Benjamin (or simply Ben) Kheng was formerly the keyboardist, rhythm guitarist, and vocalist of the pop band The Sam Willows (whose top songs include Take Heart, Say So, and All Time High). Aside from being a music artist, he’s also known as an actor and the husband of actress, host, voice-over artist, singer, radio DJ, and content creator Naomi Yeo.

Ben released a teaser on 13 August via Instagram about how he was feeling down at a party and so he created a whole album. He shared, “It’s full of sad salsas and dismal discos and cheerless cha-chas, and I hope you’ll love it”.

Benjamin Kheng and James Reid’s Rock Bottom Blues

Rock Bottom Blues featuring Filipino-Australian artist James Reid is the first track from Ben’s upcoming album. Despite their different singing styles, the two wonderfully complement each other in this collab. The song centres on heartbreak, but it’s also something you could dance to and fans are putting it on repeat.

But how did the collab come about? Ben shared in an interview that he met James in a little get-together in Singapore and added, “It happened very quickly over a month, from planning and writing the song to recording it and shooting the music video.”

If the single was already good, we can’t wait to listen to the rest of the album!
