2023 was a big year for the Malaysian star. She made history with her Best Actress awards at the Oscars and at the Golden Globes for her role in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. She inspired women of all ages with these words, “Ladies, never let anyone tell you you are past your prime.” She also became a brand ambassador for luxury fashion house Balenciaga.

We’re betting that she’ll continue to make waves in 2024 with upcoming projects such as the Wicked adaptation and the animated film The Tiger's Apprentice. For now, let’s get to know her a little better through her TV shows.

Michelle Yeoh TV shows

1. The Brothers Sun

The Brothers Sun is an action comedy drama. It has a powerhouse cast, intense fight sequences, wicked good comedic scenes, and a lot of heart.

Michelle Yeoh plays the role of Eileen Sun AKA Mama Sun. She wonderfully portrays the character of a tough yet doting immigrant mother to her son Bruce (Sam Li). Little does he know that she’s the badass wife of a crime boss in Taipei.

The story kicks off when the said boss is shot by a mysterious assassin. His eldest son, Charles (Justin Chien), flies to Los Angeles to protect his mother and brother. The three must band together despite their strained relationships before their enemies take them down.

2. American Born Chinese

American Born Chinese is a family-friendly series about Jin Wang (Ben Wang). He’s grappling with his identity and trying to fit in school when his life gets turned around after meeting the son of a mythological god (Jimmy Liu). Aside from fresh faces, the cast also includes impressive actors Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu.

Michelle’s character of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, is a heaven-sent scene-stealer in this show. Though few, her scenes were intriguing and made the show worth watching.

Unfortunately, the series couldn’t land a deal for a second season with Disney+. Who knows, it might get picked up by another streaming platform in the future, so keep an eye out for it.

3. The Witcher: Blood Origin

The Witcher: Blood Origin is a spin-off miniseries set more than a thousand years before Geralt’s (Henry Cavill) adventures in The Witcher. It’s a prequel about the creation of the first Witcher and seven warriors who band together against the tyrannical Golden Empire. It also showcases the ancient Elven civilisation Xin'trea before its downfall.

Michelle Yeoh plays the character of a proud warrior named Scían. Her sword-fighting scenes are ones that you don’t want to miss while watching the show. They will make you wish she had more screen time and just prove how she can take on any genre, any role, and make it her own.
